The Association “MOTIVAŢIE” of Moldova has, for 7 years, developed different rehabilitation and educational programs. This year, with the help of our funders SOIR MOLDOVA, we succeeded in purchasing a new building in Vadul Lui Vodă, which will be the destination for the Center for Vocational/Professional Training for Youth with Physical Disabilities. .
In the Republic of Moldova, there is a severe lack of employment and vocational training for people with disabilities; especially for those who are wheelchair users. Because of the lack of access to training and the lack of access to gaining professional skills, people with disabilities remain marginalized and dependent on others. Compounding this problem is that the majority of Moldovans are living below the poverty line; this is especially true for orphaned and abandoned children with disabilities.
To reduce this problem and offer those with disabilities a chance at independent living, it is necessary to support them and provide them and the opportunity to promote themselves like every other young person in the Republic of Moldova. The ability to support oneself and to find a place of work is one of the only way to combat the isolation and poverty suffered by people with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova.
Unfortunately, at this time “MOTIVAŢIE” cannot implement the necessary vocational and professional trainings because the Center has not been made accessible for people with disabilities. With your support, the Center would become fully accessible and provide the only vocational and professional training programs for people with disabilities in the Republic of Moldova.
